S.A.M Part 4 Early Math Enrichment
EARLY MATH ENRICHMENT CAN HELP YOUR CHILD SUCCEED!
The early introduction of math-related phrases such as ‘more than,’ ‘less than,’ and ‘equal to’ by doing activities that involve counting, adding, and subtraction can significantly increase your child’s ability to excel at Math at school. At Seriously Addictive Mathematics, we use toys or objects for these activities in a structured weekly program.
Based on Singapore Mathematics, the S.A.M Thinking Math program is proven to develop critical thinking and communication skills through hands-on activities and age-related worksheets to foster early number sense and lay a foundation for excellent learning progression. The program is ideal to serve as an enrichment solution that also transpires to home, where parents are supported through clear instructions for activities to extend the learning experience!
AT S.A.M. FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS,
WE FOCUS ON:
Drawing and writing. Even if young learners cannot write or recite numbers, they may begin to understand the concept of numbers as early as three years of age. They need ample opportunity to develop their fine motor skills to draw straight lines and curves.
Attribute recognition. Attributes like size, colour, thickness, length, and types should be integral to pre-schoolers vocabulary. Recognising similarities and differences is foundational to developing differentiation skills, which is essential for mathematical computations in further years.
Numbers and operations. Counting is introduced through concrete aids. Symbols and variation are key to ensure comprehension when counting, so counting is not just a rote calculation. At S.A.M, number value in context is emphasised.
Classification and patterning. Sorting and grouping is one of the skills needed to find patterns; the foundation of algebraic thinking. At S.A.M, describing patterns are just as important as recognising them.
The S.A.M Enrichment solution also includes progress reviews and reporting, which are great tools for consolidation and learning assessment.
The most excellent measure of success is the S.A.M learner’s enthusiasm to engage with numbers and excitement to solve problems!
THE WORLD’S LEADING PROGRAM FOR SINGAPORE MATHS:
Seriously Addictive Mathematics (S.A.M) is a multi-award-winning enrichment program based on the Singapore Math Curriculum for children aged 4 to 12. The program is delivered through a combination of Classroom learning and Worksheet learning. Students learn Maths at their own pace, according to their own ability, with the support of a S.A.M Trainer.
